BSU Hosts Conference Marking 102nd Anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev
A republican scientific conference titled “National Leader Heydar Aliyev: Building a Democratic, Legal, and Secular State in the Republic of Azerbaijan” was held at Baku State University (BSU) by the Department of History. The event was dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of the birth of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Mais Suleymanov, Director of the Center for the Organization of Scientific Activity and Innovations at BSU, highlighted the importance of the conference and the unparalleled contributions of Heydar Aliyev. He emphasized that the legacy of the national leader holds a prominent place not only in Azerbaijan but also internationally. The current achievements of Azerbaijan, he noted, are rooted in the great leader’s ideology of statehood and Azerbaijanism—an ideology that continues to foster national consciousness and serve the well-being of the people.
Professor Ibrahim Zeynalov, Dean of the Faculty of History, described Heydar Aliyev—a world-renowned alumnus of the faculty—as an exceptional figure who played a pivotal role in the history of Azerbaijan. He underscored that the life and work of the national leader serve as an inspiration to the younger generation. Zeynalov added that the country, once led out of crisis by Heydar Aliyev, has today, under the leadership of his worthy successor President Ilham Aliyev, emerged as a sovereign and influential state on the global stage. The foundation for today’s victorious Azerbaijan was laid by the visionary policies of the national leader.
The dean also shared information about the conference theses submitted by research institutes and universities across the country. The event was attended by Adil Bakhshaliyev, Dean of the Faculty of History and Geography at Sumgait State University; Vekil Hasanov, Head of the Department of Humanities at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics; and Azad Rzayev, Head of the Department of the History of Azerbaijan at BSU.
The conference will continue its work in five thematic sections.
