BSU Hosts Conference on Azerbaijan’s Independence
Baku State University (BSU), in collaboration with the Science and Education Committee of the Milli Majlis, hosted a republican scientific conference titled “Our Independence is Eternal, Irreversible.” The event was held within the framework of the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty,” marking May 28 – Independence Day – and the 102nd anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev's birth.
In his opening speech, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev emphasized the historical significance of May 28, 1918, when the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic declared independence and laid the foundation for statehood. He also highlighted the role of national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev in strengthening the country’s sovereignty and achieving victory in the 2020 Patriotic War.
Chairman of the Milli Majlis Science and Education Committee Anar Iskenderov delivered a keynote on the legacy of the first democratic republic in the Muslim East, stressing BSU’s origins as one of its greatest achievements.
The event was attended by Milli Majlis members, scholars, and BSU faculty, who discussed the democratic, cultural, and national contributions of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
