BSU Hosts Discussion on Sustainable Urban Development
A panel discussion titled “Sustainable Cities: Prospects for Future Urbanization” was held at Baku State University (BSU) as part of Urban Planning and Architecture Week organized by BSU Volunteers.
Opening the event, Ramin Samedov, Head of the Department of Humanitarian Affairs and Youth Policy, highlighted the importance of coordinated social, environmental, and economic approaches to sustainable urban development.
Speakers from various fields addressed key aspects of modern urbanization. Professor Sevinj Gadzhieva focused on environmental challenges such as air pollution, noise, and climate change, emphasizing the need to preserve ecological balance. Eyvaz Bagirov discussed the importance of safe and environmentally responsible demolition of outdated buildings. Transport expert Rauf Agamirzayev highlighted inclusive urban planning and the need to ensure accessibility, comfort, and safety for all citizens. Uzeyir Shefiev underlined the socio-humanitarian dimension of urban development, noting its impact on quality of life and social integration.
The discussion emphasized that sustainable urbanization requires a comprehensive and inclusive approach.
