Baku State University has hosted the 1st International Scientific Conference on the topic "The Turkic World: a common history - cultural values, modern realities and a vision of the future".

Elchin Babaev, the rector of BSU, speaking at the opening ceremony, stated that this year has been full of significant events for Azerbaijan - the Azerbaijani people joyfully celebrated the anniversary of the national leader Heydar Aliyev and the glorious Victory in Karabakh. The rector emphasized that holding the conference in support of Turkic unity at such a time is an approving step. The speaker noted that Azerbaijan's efforts towards Turkic unity have been successful recently.

The conference featured prominent speakers such as Professor Ibrahim Zeinalov, Dean of the Historical Faculty of BSU, Academician Yagub Mahmudov, Head of the Department of Ancient World and Middle Ages History, Professor Irada Guseynova, Head of the Department of History of the Caucasian People, Professor Oguljerren Gajiyeva, Representative of Turkmenistan in the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY),  Ahmet Edi, Associate Professor from Chechen University Agra Ibrahim in Turkey, and Professor Sevinj Aliyeva, Head of the Department of World History at the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University.

The conference continued its work in four sections.
