International Conference “XXI Century, New Challenges and Modern Development Tendencies of Law”, organized by Law Faculty of Baku State University in collaboration with Halle-Wittenberg University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Vilnius University, Lyon2 University, France was held at BSU on December 21, 2021.

Before the start of the official ceremony, participants honoured the blessed memory of our martyrs who heroically died in the Patriotic War with a minute of silence.

BSU Rector Elchin Babayev made an introductory speech at the opening ceremony and wished success to the Conference. He said that The Faculty of Law of Baku State University is a leading centre for the training of lawyers in Azerbaijan. He stressed that famous scientists from Azerbaijan, as well as Turkey, Germany, France, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan would take part in the conference.

The opening ceremony was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Azerbaijan Cahit Bagci, The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva, Head of the Department of Constitutional Law of BSU, Professor Ziyafat Asgarov, Rector of Kiev Law University Yuri Boshitsky, Rector of Tashkent State University of Law Islambek Rustambekov, Head of the Academy of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Gulu Novruzov, Dean of the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University Thomas Davilius, Dean of the Faculty of Law of Ankara University Muharram Ozen, Dean of the Faculty of Law of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Daulet Baydeldinov, Dean of the Faculty of Law of Istanbul University  Omar Ekmekchi, Dean of the Faculty of Law of the Kazan Federal University Lilia Bakulina, Dean of the Faculty of Law of the Kiev National Aviation University Irina Sopilko, Dean of the Faculty of Law of Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University Shabah Kayihan and Professor of Moscow State University Anatoly Belkin.

Rector of Tashkent State University of Law Islambek Rustambeyov made presentation on "Reform of legal science and education in the post-Soviet space", Professor of Istanbul University, Turkey Cuneyt Yuksel on "The impact of climate change struggle on human rights" and Associate Professor of BSU Gulnaz Rzayeva on "New technologies and new rights: basic principles".

During the event Baku State University signed a cooperation agreement with the Tashkent Law University of Uzbekistan and a cooperation agreement on a dual degree program for a master's degree with the Halle-Wittenberg University of Germany.
