On August 18, 2025, Baku State University (BSU) hosted an international forum on the theme “History of Teaching Arabic in the Caucasus and Central Asia.” The event was organized within the framework of the initiative of The King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language (KSGAFAL) under which August 2025 was declared “Arabic Language Month” in Azerbaijan.

The forum was co-organized by BSU and The King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language (KSGAFAL). It brought together representatives of leading universities in the region, including Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Kazakhstan), Bishkek University (Kyrgyzstan), Tajik National University (Tajikistan), and Tbilisi State University (Georgia).

The main objective of the forum was to discuss the history and future prospects of Arabic language teaching in the Caucasus and Central Asia, to strengthen inter-university cooperation, and to foster new academic and cultural partnerships.

During the discussions, participants shared their national experiences in Arabic language education, highlighting both historical traditions and modern teaching practices. Special focus was given to the Azerbaijani experience, particularly the traditions and innovative approaches applied at BSU. Presentations from other countries emphasized the role of the Arabic language in advancing scientific collaboration and cultural exchange across the region.

The forum underscored the significance of Arabic not only as a means of communication but also as a cultural bridge between peoples and a platform for international academic cooperation. Participants stressed the importance of further deepening humanitarian ties between the Arab world, Azerbaijan, and the countries of Central Asia.

At the conclusion of the forum, participating universities agreed to implement joint research projects, organize international conferences, promote student and faculty exchanges, and develop collaborative educational programs.
