As part of the "Year of Nizami Ganjavi", the international scientific conference on the topic of "The Great Azerbaijani Poet Nizami Ganjavi and Eastern-Western Literary-Cultural Heritage", jointly organized by Baku State University (BSU) in collaboration with Baku Branch of Lomonosov Moscow State University was held On December 23-24, 2021 at Baku State University.

Opening the event, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev emphasized that 2021 was declared by the order of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev "The Year of Nizami Ganjavi" and assessed the organization of this  international scientific conference as an important contribution to the preservation of the great heritage of the poet. He also stressed that Baku State University has developed an Action Plan in connection with the Year of Nizami Ganjavi. Speaking about the creativity of Nizami Ganjavi, he noted that that the concept of humanity forms the main subject of Nizami’s literary discourse.

Professor at the Baku Branch of Lomonosov Moscow State University Nazim Safarov, the Deputy of Milli Majlis, academician Nizami Jafarov, Director of the National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi of ANAS, academician Rafael Huseynov, the Deputy of Milli Majlis, Professor Zhalya Aliyeva, Professor at the Euphrates University Suleiman Kaan Yalchin, Rector of the Firat University, professor Fakhrettin Goktash (online), Director of the Central Scientific Library of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan Shodimuhammed Sufizode, Professor at the Jizzakh State Pedagogical Institute of the Republic of Uzbekistan Guljakhon Jumanazarova, Professor at the Bilkent University Rasim Ozyurek (online), Professor at the Kazan State Institute of Culture Gyuzala Gazieva, Professor at the Akdeniz University Oguzkhan Garaburgu delivered keynote speeches at the opening ceremony of the conference.
