An international seminar entitled “Horizons of the JINR (Joint Institute for Nuclear Research)-Azerbaijan cooperation in the fields of nuclear physics, particle physics and detectors of particles” was held at Baku State University (BSU).
The event was organized by The Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and BSU.
The seminar was chaired by Roald Sagdeev, a Soviet and Russian expert in plasma physics and a former director of the Space Research Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences. Director of the Institute of Physics of ANAS, Academician Nazim Mamedov opened the event with welcoming speech and highlighted the contribution of the event to physical science and the development of interstate scientific relations.
Rector of BSU Elchin Babayev wished all participants fruitful work and stressed the importance of the seminar. He said that prominent scientists and leading specialists in nuclear physics and particle physics from Azerbaijan, Germany, the Russian Federation, the Czech Republic and Poland were invited to participate in the work of the seminar.
Academician Roald Sagdeyev, Prof.Dr.Paolo Giubellino, Scientific Managing Director and Chair Management Board of the FAIR Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research, Michail Itkis, Vice-Director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear and Ivan Shtekl, Director of the Institute of Experimental and Applied Physics Czech Technical University in Prague made presentations on various topics.   

Then a Cooperation Protocol was signed between BSU and the Institute of Experimental and Applied Physics Czech Technical University in Prague.
