The international ranking agency Round University Ranking (RUR) held an online training session for representatives of 25 universities in Azerbaijan, organized by Baku State University (BSU).

The event brought together university staff responsible for international relations, quality assurance, strategic development, and rankings from the country’s leading higher education institutions.

Asiman Ilyasov, Advisor to the Rector of BSU on Quality Assurance, delivered a presentation highlighting the university’s strategic initiatives in science, research, and internationalization, its collaboration with international organizations, achievements in global rankings, and commitment to sustainable development goals. He also underlined the importance of such training events.

Representatives of the RUR agency provided detailed information about the objectives and principles of the RUR system, its evaluation criteria, and the processes of data collection, analysis, and presentation. They also discussed mechanisms for university participation in rankings, methods for improving data quality, and the importance of using performance indicators in strategic decision-making.

The training aimed to expand opportunities for Azerbaijani universities to participate in international rankings, strengthen their integration into the global academic community, and enhance institutional capacity in modern evaluation methodologies and data management. Participants were also informed about global trends, innovative approaches, and best international practices in higher education.

It should be noted that 15 universities from Azerbaijan are currently listed in the RUR rankings, with Baku State University holding the leading position.
