29/04/2026

A lecture titled “The Manifestation of Contemporary Philosophical Concepts in Media” was delivered at the Faculty of Journalism of Baku State University (BSU) by corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Konul Bunyadzade.

Deputy Dean Samir Mirzayev отметил that such meetings play an important role in shaping students’ worldview. Jahangir Mammadli, Head of the Department of National Press History, spoke in detail about the guest’s academic work and philosophical views, emphasizing that her contributions to both philosophy and media serve as an example for students.

Addressing the relationship between philosophy and media—often referred to as the “fourth estate”—Professor Bunyadzade shared perspectives of philosophers and scholars, explaining how philosophical thought is reflected in modern media.

In her lecture, she focused on the concept of reality, providing a comprehensive overview of objective and subjective reality. Using the model of an inverted pyramid, she illustrated the layers of reality and their connection to media. The discussion highlighted that philosophy enriches media professionals with depth of thought, analytical skills, and an objective approach.

Head of the Department of New Media and Communication Theory, Khatira Huseynova, noted that media ethics and adherence to journalistic codes are also key philosophical issues. She also spoke about the professor’s brother, Ulvi Bunyadzade, a martyr of the January 20 tragedy.

The event concluded with a Q&A session.
