BSU hosts literary and artistic event "Voice from the South"

Philology Faculty of Baku State University (BSU) has hosted a literary and artistic event "Voice from the South" within the framework of the "Nowruz Lectures" project. The event was dedicated to the national literature, folk creativity and customs of South Azerbaijan.

The event was attended by faculty members, students and the well-known musician Ashiq Chingiz Mehdipour from South Azerbaijan.

Mati Osmanoglu, Associate Professor of the Department of the Azerbaijani Literature, spoke about the influence of the literature on the formation of ideas of national independence and freedom in South Azerbaijan. He also noted that the activities of progressive intellectuals played an important role in the preservation of traditions and national heritage in the South Azerbaijan.

Chingiz Mehdipour shared information about the ashiq schools in South Azerbaijan, as well as the current state of ashiq creativity. He also performed folk songs and poems.
