An educational meeting titled “WUF 13: Challenges and Opportunities” was held at Baku State University (BSU) at the initiative of the Model OIS BSU Club.

Speaking at the event, BSU staff member and Chairman of the Model OIS BSU Club, Mirhuseyn Taghiyev, presented an overview of the World Urban Forum (WUF), outlining the history and key areas of activity of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). He also highlighted the contribution of previous forums to global sustainable development.

The meeting focused on the key challenges and opportunities associated with the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), scheduled to be held in Baku in 2026. Discussions covered current trends in urban development, “smart village” models, and BSU’s initiatives in these areas, as well as the role of the academic community in urban planning processes.

Special attention was given to the opportunities WUF13 offers for young people, including volunteer programs and the importance of students’ active participation in major international events.

The meeting concluded with interactive discussions and a question-and-answer session.
