As part of the International Scientific Conference “Teaching Turkic Languages, Literatures, and Histories in the Context of Contemporary Challenges,” held within the framework of the Week of the Turkic World, a panel session entitled “The Legacy of the First Turkological Congress: Cultural and Scientific Integration of Turkic Peoples” took place at Baku State University (BSU).

The session was moderated by Meti Bayramli, Associate Professor of the Department of the History of Azerbaijani Literature at BSU.

Participants discussed the continued relevance of the ideas of the First Turkological Congress in the era of globalization, digitalization, and artificial intelligence, as well as ways to preserve and pass on its scholarly legacy to future generations.

Vice President of the International Turkic Academy Bülent Bayram emphasized the need to establish a unified digital platform for cooperation among Turkologists. Mahira Huseynova, Vice Rector of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation among higher education institutions of the Turkic states and promoting the development of a common Turkic language.

Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan Sherubay Kurmanbayuly stressed that language remains the foundation of integration in education and science, while the creation of a common digital terminology for Turkic languages has become a strategic priority in the age of artificial intelligence. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan Syrtbay Musayev noted that the ideas and unifying spirit of the First Turkological Congress remain highly relevant and continue to serve as an important guide for the development of modern Turkology and the integration of the Turkic world.

Head of the Department of Turkology at BSU Maharram Mammadov emphasized that the legacy of the First Turkological Congress continues to serve as a key reference point for the advancement of modern Turkology and the strengthening of scientific cooperation across the Turkic world.
