BSU hosts Republican Conference dedicated to May 28 - Independence Day
Baku State University (BSU) has hosted a Republican conference entitled "The First Democratic Republic in the Islamic East: scientific and theoretical foundations and main trends of the nation and state building", dedicated to May 28 - Independence Day.
Opening the ceremony, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev spoke of the history of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. The Law on the Foundation of Baku State University adopted by the Parliament on September 1, 1919 deserves a special note in this respect, establishment of the national university was a tremendous historic achievement of the Republic, said Elchin Babayev.
Elchin Babayev stressed that according to the Law "On Independence Day" approved by President Ilham Aliyev on October 15, 2021, May 28 was declared Independence Day. Until this date, May 28 was marked as Republic Day.
Member of the Milli Majlis, Professor Zhalya Aliyeva, Professor Izzet Rustamov also spoke at the event. Deputy dean of the Faculty of History Elshen Aslanov, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Psychology Rovshan Javadov, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies Aidan Khandan made presentations at the conference.
