BSU hosts Round Table on Problems of Azerbaijani language in South Azerbaijan
The Faculty of Philology of Baku State University (BSU) has hosted a "round table" on the topic "Problems of Azerbaijani language in South Azerbaijan", dedicated to February 21 - International Mother Language Day.
Rector Elchin Babayev made an opening speech at the event. He said that Azerbaijani language is a very rich language with a unique place in the Turkic language family and has deep roots and great traditions.
Professor of the Department of Turkic Studies Maharram Mammadli made a presentation entitled “South Azerbaijan: Literary Language, Koine Dialect or Hybrid Language”. The Head of the Department of General Linguistics of BSU, Academician Nizami Jafarov and the moderator of the event, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Philology Anar Farajov, also made speech at the event.
