BSU Hosts Round Table on Scientific Innovations and Biotechnology
The Faculty of Biology at Baku State University (BSU) hosted a round table discussion on “Scientific Innovations and Biotechnology: New Prospects for Sustainable Ecological Balance.”
Opening the event, Professor Afet Mamedova, Dean of the Faculty of Biology, highlighted the pressing global challenges of maintaining ecological balance, ensuring the rational use of natural resources, and preventing pollution of water, soil, and atmospheric air. She emphasized the crucial role of scientific innovations and biotechnology in achieving sustainable development.
Academician Irada Huseynova, Director General of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology under the Ministry of Science and Education, discussed the impact of biotechnology on ecosystems and outlined key research directions in the field.
Corresponding Member of ANAS Panah Muradov, Director General of the Institute of Microbiology, provided insights into the role of microbiology in preserving ecological balance.
Professor Elmikhan Jafarov, Head of the Radiobiology Laboratory at the Institute of Radiation Problems, shared his perspective on the effects of radioactive contamination on biodiversity and introduced innovative solutions in this area.
Professor Nariman Ismailov, Senior Researcher at the Institute, presented the latest advancements in biotechnological innovations and their applications in industry and agriculture.
The round table also served as a platform for discussions on potential collaborations, followed by an interactive Q&A session with participants.
Concluding the event, speakers emphasized the vital role of scientific innovations in addressing environmental challenges and underscored the need for large-scale research initiatives in this field.
