A roundtable discussion titled “Strong Leader, Strong Statehood, Sustainable Development” was held at Baku State University (BSU).

Speaking at the event, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev emphasized that the Victory in the 44-day Patriotic War represents the most significant milestone in Azerbaijan’s modern history. Achieved under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief President Ilham Aliyev, the Victory was the result of strong political will, far-sighted state policy, the dedication of the Azerbaijani Army, and the unity of the people, the army, and the government. This historic achievement opened a new chapter in the development of both the country and the region as a whole.

The rector also noted that, through the consistent continuation of the principles of statehood established by national leader Heydar Aliyev, Azerbaijan has become a model of political stability, effective governance, and independent foreign policy. He said that large-scale restoration and construction projects in the liberated territories clearly demonstrate the country’s economic strength and commitment to sustainable development.

Elchin Babayev further highlighted the importance of social reforms in the fields of education, healthcare, social protection, and youth policy, as well as comprehensive restoration programs in Karabakh, which have contributed to the region’s socio-cultural revival and strengthened national unity.

The roundtable also featured presentations by Ibrahim Zeynalov, Dean of the Faculty of History at BSU; Farid Babayev, Head of the Department of World Economy; Khalid Niyazov, Director of the Center for Western Azerbaijan Studies at BSU; and Gabil Aslanov, Associate Professor of the Department of World Economy.

The event concluded with the screening of the documentary film “Victory Written in History,” written by Mahir Garibov, a lecturer at the BSU Faculty of Journalism.
