BSU hosts scientific seminar on Climate Change
Faculty of Biology of Baku State University (BSU) has hosted a scientific seminar entitled "Impact of Climate Change on Earth's Vegetation".
Associate Professor Asim Safarov discussed the emergence of certain changes in the biosphere as a continuation of geological and chemical processes in the Earth's inner and outer core. He noted that these processes are also related to solar activity. The geomorphological characteristics of the Earth also have a significant impact on vegetation. The influence of climatic factors on plants causes corresponding changes in their growth and development phases. The signs and characteristics of the planet's vegetation are changing at a very rapid pace. Disruptions in the ecological balance and an acceleration in the intensity of technogenic events are being recorded in certain areas.
The speaker discussed cases of acceleration and deceleration occurring by season and explained the reasons for changes in the vegetative rhythms of plants. According to him, such processes include changes in the atmospheric gas balance and an increase in air temperature.
