BSU hosts scientific seminar titled ‘Crystals, Quasicrystals, and Applied Folk Art’
A scientific seminar on the topic "Crystals, Quasicrystals, and Applied Folk Art" took place in the Nanoresearch laboratory of Baku State University (BSU). The chief scientific researcher of the laboratory, Imamaddin Amirasanov, provided detailed information about scientific discoveries in the field of crystallography, focusing on the state of matter that is distinct from crystalline and amorphous states - quasicrystals. He emphasized the significance of Penrose grids and Monotile (Einstein's) concepts in solving crystallographic problems.
During the seminar, parallels were drawn between crystallographic aspects and decorative patterns in folk art, especially in Eastern ornamentation. Additionally, new artworks in the style of "tessellations" were presented.
