The Department of Equations of Mathematical Physics of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Cybernetics of Baku State University (BSU) has hosted the scientific workshop on Poincaré conjecture. Nezakat Mammadova, Associate Professor of the Department, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, made a presentation entitled “History of the proof of the Poincaré conjecture”.
The Poincaré conjecture, originally conjectured by Henri Poincaré in 1904, is a theorem about the characterization of the 3-sphere, which is the hypersphere that bounds the unit ball in four-dimensional space.
The Workshop was followed by a question and answer session.
