BSU Hosts Screening of "Battle of Karagay" Documentary
Baku State University (BSU) hosted a screening of Battle of Karagay, a documentary by honored journalist and deputy chairperson of the Press Council of Azerbaijan, Saadat Mammadova. The film, which sheds light on the Khojaly genocide, is part of the journalist’s extensive documentary series, Agdam and I, which includes over 50 films.
Speaking at the event, BSU Vice-Rector Alish Agamirzayev emphasized the significance of educating young people about the tragedies that have shaped Azerbaijan’s history. He noted that the university has organized several events to commemorate the 33rd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, and Battle of Karagay plays a crucial role in preserving the memory of these events.
Saadat Mammadova, the film’s creator, highlighted its focus on Karagay, a location in the Aghdam region where victims of the Khojaly genocide sought refuge while fleeing Armenian forces. The film documents the battle that took place in this area in an effort to save the residents of Khojaly. Mammadova stressed that such works serve as valuable historical resources for future generations.
Following the speeches, the documentary was screened for the audience.
