BSU Hosts Seminar on “Development of Science as a Priority of State Policy in Azerbaijan”

A scientific seminar dedicated to March 27—“Science Day” in Azerbaijan—was held at the Faculty of Information and Document Management of Baku State University (BSU). The event featured a keynote report by Associate Professor of the Library Science Department, Parviz Kazimi, on the topic “Development of Science as a Priority of State Policy in Azerbaijan.”

During the seminar, Mais Suleymanov, Director of the Center for Organization of Scientific Activity and Innovations, highlighted the exceptional contributions of national leader Heydar Aliyev to the development of science in Azerbaijan. He emphasized that this policy is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.

Following this, Associate Professor Parviz Kazimi delivered his report, elaborating on the state’s commitment to scientific advancement. He provided insights into key policy documents, institutions responsible for science policy, and their respective functions.

“The annual celebration of ‘Science Day’ on March 27 and the continuous attention given to the advancement of science underscore its priority status in Azerbaijan’s state policy,” Kazimi stated.

His report also addressed emerging directions in scientific research, modern trends, and the integration of Azerbaijani science into the global scientific community. He conducted comparative analyses on various aspects of scientific development and stressed the importance of applied research. Additionally, he underscored the necessity of publishing research findings in journals indexed in international scientific databases.

The presentation reflected the progress of Azerbaijani scientists, highlighting significant research achievements, publications in prestigious scientific journals, Hirsch indices, and citation metrics.

Kazimi also noted that BSU has made remarkable strides in these areas, securing top positions in international academic rankings. He emphasized that the university's continuous progress in scientific research and global recognition is a testament to its commitment to excellence.
