BSU Hosts Seminar on Existential Psychology
The Psychological Support Sector of Baku State University organized a seminar titled “Choices that Define Our Lives – Human Limits in Existential Psychology.”
Psychologists Natavan Hasanzade and Adem Pashayev discussed key concepts of Existential Psychology, including the meaning of life, freedom, responsibility, fear of death, and loneliness. They emphasized that the choices individuals make throughout their lives play a crucial role in shaping their personal development and life paths.
The speakers noted that while people often attribute life events to external factors, the existential approach stresses personal freedom and responsibility for one’s decisions. Understanding psychological defense mechanisms and internal fears, they added, helps individuals make more conscious choices.
The interactive seminar included discussions, practical psychological exercises, and a Q&A session with students.
