BSU Hosts Seminar on National Jurisdiction in Genocide and International Crime Trials
A scientific seminar on the role of national courts in prosecuting genocide and other international crimes was held at Baku State University (BSU), dedicated to March 27 – Science Day in Azerbaijan.
Dean of the Faculty of Law Zaur Aliyev emphasized the relevance of the topic in modern international law, highlighting the importance of academic discussions for strengthening legal mechanisms and professional training. Deputy Dean Rahim Mammadov noted that violations of international law in recent decades have led to wars, armed conflicts, and acts of genocide, seriously threatening global peace and security.
The seminar also addressed the experience of Azerbaijani courts in prosecuting genocide, war crimes, and other serious international crimes in accordance with both national legislation and international treaties. The event concluded with a question-and-answer session and an active discussion.
