A research seminar titled “Acquisition Sources for the Jafar Jabbarly Republican Youth Library” was held at the Faculty of Information and Document Management of Baku State University (BSU).

Master’s student Lala Mamedova delivered a presentation at the seminar.

Her paper explored the activities of the Republican Youth Library, including its structure, collection, acquisition sources, readership, and digitization processes, and provided an analysis of the library’s electronic information resources.

The speaker highlighted the key sources that contribute to the library’s collection, such as acquisitions, collaborations with local publishers, books donated by authors and other legal entities and individuals, as well as resource exchanges with other libraries. She emphasized the ongoing enhancement of electronic information resources: “The number of materials added to the electronic library is steadily increasing, and the collection now includes works by both local and international authors on topics relevant to young readers.” The researcher also addressed issues such as identifying relevant topics and subcategories, selecting new publications and assessing future collection needs, monitoring reader interests, managing subscriptions, and ensuring the efficient use of financial resources.

The presentation further reviewed areas of the institution’s activities such as meetings with authors, book signings and presentations, collaboration with universities and international libraries, and participation in digital platforms. It also featured graphical representations showing the development of the Republican Youth Library’s collection, along with several comparative analyses.
