BSU hosts seminar on synthesis of molecular wires
Nano Research Laboratory of Baku State University (BSU) has hosted a scientific seminar on the synthesis of molecular wires.
Rajyut Ismailov, Senior Research Fellow of the Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry of the Ministry of Science and Education made presentation on the topic. He noted that the concept of "molecules - wires" was created by physicists and chemists several decades ago. The aim of the work carried out in this direction was to obtain synthetic metals. Currently, molecular wires with transition metals Ni(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Cr(II), Ru(II), and Rh(II) have been synthesized, and their structure, magnetic and electrochemical properties, and conductivity properties are being carefully studied. It is assumed that molecular wires, when used in the fabrication of nano-devices, will function as conducting elements.
