BSU Hosts Seminar on the 1st Turkological Congress in Soviet-Era Azerbaijani Press
A scientific seminar dedicated to March 27 - Science Day was held at the Faculty of Journalism of BSU on “Proceedings of the 1st Turkological Congress in the Azerbaijani Soviet Press.”
Doctor of Historical Sciences Akif Aşırlı spoke about the historical and media significance of the First Turkological Congress, where issues of a common Turkic language, alphabet, and terminology were discussed. Particular attention was paid to press coverage of the congress and debates on the transition from the Arabic alphabet to a Latin-based script.
The presentation also addressed publications in periodicals of the time and the participation of prominent intellectuals, including Mehmet Fuat Köprülü and Ali bey Huseynzade.
The seminar ended with discussions and questions from participants.
