BSU Hosts Seminar on the Activities of the Republican State Scientific Medical Library
A scientific seminar dedicated to Science Day on March 27 was held at the Faculty of Information and Document Management of Baku State University (BSU).
At the seminar, Hijran Zeynalova, a lecturer at the Department of Library Science at BSU, delivered a report on “Activities of the Republican State Scientific Medical Library.”
The presentation explored the history of the library, which has been in operation since 1939, tracing its formation and development. Zeynalova highlighted the library’s specialized readership and provided insights into its unique operational methods.
The study analyzed various aspects of the library’s activities, including its organizational structure, document flow, book collection, sources of acquisition, readership statistics, and the range of events hosted at the institution. Additionally, the seminar examined the library’s role in organizing exhibitions, conducting scientific and methodological work, and participating in various projects.
Discussing digital transformation, the speaker emphasized the need to enhance technological applications to improve cataloguing systems. She also provided a comparative analysis of global best practices in this area.
The seminar concluded with an engaging discussion among participants.
