The opening ceremony of the 2nd International Scientific Conference, “Modern Problems of Theoretical and Experimental Chemistry,” dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev, was held at Baku State University (BSU). The conference is organized by BSU in partnership with Ankara University and Qafqaz University of Kars (Türkiye), Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan, and Atyrau Oil and Gas University of Kazakhstan.

Speaking at the ceremony, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev highlighted the outstanding contribution of Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev to the development of Azerbaijani and world science, noting his role as the founder of the petrochemical scientific school and a prominent organizer of scientific research. He emphasized that the academician’s scientific legacy continues to serve as an important guide for BSU, particularly for the Faculty of Chemistry.

As part of the event, a film dedicated to the life and scientific achievements of Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev was screened. Representatives of scientific and educational institutions from Azerbaijan and abroad also delivered welcoming remarks.

During the conference, the winners of BSU’s “Scientific Competition in Chemistry” and the recipients of the Yusif Mammadaliyev Scholarship were announced. The conference will continue with four thematic breakout sessions.
