BSU Hosts Workshop on Constitutional Rights
The Faculty of Journalism of Baku State University (BSU) hosted a workshop titled “The Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan – a Reliable Guarantor of Human Rights Protection,” jointly organized by BSU, the Media Development Agency, and the Judicial-Legal Council.
Opening the event, Adil Taghiyev, Head of the Legal Department at the Media Development Agency, stressed that within the framework of the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty,” the Agency places special emphasis on educational initiatives targeting young people. He noted that seminars, training sessions, and projects for students play a key role in communicating the essence of the Constitution, human rights principles, and constitutional values to society.
Vugar Aliyev, a member of the Supervisory Board of the Media Development Agency and Dean of the Faculty of Journalism, highlighted that the Constitution is not only a legal document but also the foundation of statehood ideology, national values, and the construction of a democratic society. “Organizing such events significantly contributes to enhancing young people’s legal knowledge, deepening their understanding of constitutional values, and strengthening their civic responsibility,” he said.
Khayala Jemileva, a judge of the Baku Court of Appeal, delivered a lecture underscoring the Constitution’s crucial role in shaping the legal foundations of Azerbaijani statehood. She emphasized that, in the year marking the 30th anniversary of the Constitution’s adoption and the fifth anniversary of the historic victory and restoration of state sovereignty, promoting constitutional values among the younger generation and strengthening legal education should be regarded as a priority.
