A Workshop titled “Formation of Worldview and the Modern Information Environment” was held at the Faculty of Information and Document Management of Baku State University (BSU).

The session was led by Professor Jahangir Mammadli, Head of the Department of History of the National Press. In his lecture, Professor Mammadli explored the concept of worldview and examined the impact of the modern information environment from a scientific and theoretical perspective.

“A broad worldview not only shapes an individual and defines their future, but can also influence the fate of an entire nation or state,” he noted. “During the 44-day Patriotic War, the wide-ranging worldview of the President of Azerbaijan and the decisions based on it played a pivotal role in securing our people’s future.”

The Workshop emphasized the importance of critical information literacy, including selecting, analyzing, preparing, and transmitting information effectively. Discussions focused on the role of media, internet resources, and social networks in shaping modern worldviews. The integration of worldview development with the information environment was highlighted as essential to cultivating critical thinking, objectivity, creativity, and sound decision-making skills.

Throughout the session, students engaged in interactive discussions, viewed presentations, and took part in comparative analyses. The session also explored the positive and negative aspects of various information sources, encouraging participants to approach information with a thoughtful and discerning mindset.
