BSU Introduces New Book on Urban Development and Sustainable Cities
The presentation of the book “Urban Future – Cities of the Future”, dedicated to the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), was held within the framework of the international conference “Formation of Human Capital for Sustainable and Resilient Urban Development,” jointly organized by Baku State University (BSU) and the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture.
The editor-in-chief of the publication is Musa Marjanli, Director of the BSU Center for Cultural Heritage Studies. Published by IRS Publishing House, the book explores the history of urbanization in Azerbaijan, the development of ancient cities, and the transformation of Baku into a global energy and urban center.
The publication also highlights Azerbaijan’s experience in urban planning, green development, digital governance, and cultural heritage protection, with special attention given to reconstruction projects in the liberated territories based on smart city and sustainable development principles.
Featuring rare illustrations, archival materials, maps, and photographs, the book serves as both a scholarly and visual resource for an international audience. It is expected to contribute to new discussions and international cooperation on the future of cities and may also be used as a teaching resource in universities and research centers.
