BSU Journalism Students Visit AZERTAC to Strengthen Media Collaboration
A delegation from the Faculty of Journalism of Baku State University (BSU), including faculty leadership and students, visited the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) to gain firsthand insight into the agency’s work and explore opportunities for cooperation.
During a meeting with Vugar Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of AZERTAC, the visitors were provided with an overview of the agency’s history, development, and operational scope. Aliyev emphasized AZERTAC’s expanding global presence, with cooperation agreements in over 50 countries and information exchanges across five continents. The agency publishes over 500 news pieces daily in eight languages—Azerbaijani, Russian, English, German, French, Arabic, Chinese, and Spanish—along with video news in five languages. It also maintains a network of foreign correspondent offices in 25 countries, ensuring Azerbaijan’s voice is heard globally and positioning AZERTAC as a trusted and impartial news source.
Additionally, Aliyev stressed that AZERTAC serves as a training ground for young journalists, offering invaluable practical experience.
BSU's Dean of the Faculty of Journalism, Associate Professor Vugar Aliyev, highlighted the university’s collaborations with major media organizations, including the Media Development Agency, the Audiovisual Council, and the Press Council. He underscored the role of media rooms at BSU in helping students bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world journalism. The discussion also touched upon the creation of a dedicated AZERTAC room at BSU, which would enhance hands-on training opportunities for students.
The visit concluded with a tour of AZERTAC’s state-of-the-art facilities, offering students a closer look at the day-to-day operations of one of Azerbaijan’s leading news agencies.
