The Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject has released its 2025 rankings.

Baku State University (BSU) continues to uphold its status as Azerbaijan's leading university, according to the latest results. BSU secured a position in the 1001+ bracket for physical sciences (encompassing physics, chemistry, geology, astronomy, mathematics, and more), marking it as the sole Azerbaijani institution represented in this category.

Additionally, BSU reinforced its leadership in engineering sciences, ranking in the 1001–1250 range for disciplines such as chemical engineering, geological engineering, hydrogeological engineering, and geophysical engineering.

In comparison to the previous year, BSU achieved notable progress, with a 10% improvement in physical sciences and a 14% increase in engineering sciences.
