BSU Marks 75th Anniversary of People's Poet Zalimkhan Yagub with National Conference
Baku State University (BSU) has launched a national scientific conference, “The Role of the Information Environment in the Integrated Development of Science, Education, and Culture in Azerbaijan,” dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Zalimkhan Yagub, a distinguished graduate of the Faculty of Information and Document Management.
At the opening, BSU Vice-Rector Alish Agamirzayev, speaking on behalf of Rector Elchin Babayev, welcomed participants and highlighted the importance of celebrating outstanding alumni. He noted that Zalimkhan Yagub’s works are rooted in rich national literary traditions and have earned admiration across the Turkic world. The poet was highly valued by National Leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev and received the Shohrat and Sharaf Orders, as well as the title of People's Poet. Vice-Rector Agamirzayev emphasized that the conference plays a crucial role in studying, evaluating, and popularizing Yagub’s literary legacy.
The event featured speeches by prominent figures, including Milli Majlis members Musa Urud and Elnara Akimova, Dean of the Faculty of Information and Document Management Alamdar Jabbarli, Head of the Editorial and Publishing Department Knyaz Aslan, Professor Rustam Kamal, Editor-in-Chief of “Adabiyyat” Azer Turan, poet Vagif Bahmanli, Deputy Director of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature Mehman Hasanli, critic Asad Jahangir, and Secretary of the Union of Ashughs of Azerbaijan Musa Nabioglu.
The conference concluded with a speech by Behlul Yagubov, son of the national poet, who expressed gratitude to BSU, the speakers, and participants for honoring his father’s legacy and organizing the commemorative event.
