BSU Marks May 19 with Tribute to Azerbaijani–Turkish Unity
Baku State University (BSU) hosted a concert program titled "Brotherhood", dedicated to the Year of Constitution and Sovereignty and May 19 – Atatürk Memorial, Youth and Sports Day.
In his opening remarks, BSU Vice-Rector Shahin Panahov emphasized the significance of declaring 2025 as the Year of Constitution and Sovereignty, highlighting its importance in the context of Azerbaijan’s statehood and the development of legal awareness among its citizens. He spoke about the pivotal role of national leader Heydar Aliyev in shaping modern Azerbaijan, the achievements of President Ilham Aliyev's domestic and foreign policy, and the new geopolitical realities that emerged following the victory in Karabakh.
Panahov also underscored the deep-rooted brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, founded on shared language, religion, and cultural heritage. “Today’s concert program, prepared by Turkish students at BSU, stands as a powerful symbol of our unity,” he said.
Representing the Turkish students of the university, Muhammed Nazim Koylu noted that May 19 – Atatürk Memorial, Youth and Sports Day is more than a commemoration of a historical event. “It is a symbolic occasion that charts a path for youth, emphasizing their vital role in shaping society’s future,” he said.
The event continued with a concert program featuring performances by Azerbaijani and Turkish students studying at BSU.
