Speaking at the ceremony, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev noted that the institute, established in 2011 through the partnership between BSU and Anhui University with the support of Hanban, has become a leading center for Chinese language education and cultural exchange in Azerbaijan. He emphasized that over the past 15 years, thousands of students and citizens have participated in its language courses, cultural programs, academic exchanges, and proficiency examinations.
The Rector highlighted the Confucius Institute’s role as a cultural bridge between Azerbaijan and China, contributing to mutual understanding and strengthening educational, scientific, and cultural ties between the two countries. He also underlined the growing partnership between BSU and Anhui University, which includes student and faculty exchanges, joint research, and dual-degree programs.
Chinese Embassy Counselor Ding Tao and Anhui University Vice President Huang Zhixiang praised the institute’s contribution to Chinese language teaching and Azerbaijan–China friendship. They noted that the institute has trained thousands of learners, organized hundreds of cultural events, and supported scholarship opportunities for Azerbaijani students in China.
