BSU Opens Its Doors for the 2026/2027 Academic Year

The 2026/2027 academic year has begun at Baku State University (BSU).

The first classes of the new academic year at BSU are dedicated to the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture.”

In the 2026/2027 academic year, BSU is offering programs in 76 majors and 239 specializations.

A total of 21,977 students are currently enrolled in undergraduate programs at BSU. Of these, 15,220 are studying on state-funded placements, while 6,757 are enrolled on a fee-paying basis.

For the new academic year, 4,911 students have been admitted to BSU’s undergraduate programs. Of these, 3,487 will study on state-funded placements, while 1,424 will study on a fee-paying basis.

In the 2026/2027 academic year, 2,573 students are enrolled in master’s programs. Of these, 1,825 are studying on state-funded placements, while 748 are enrolled on a fee-paying basis.

Since the previous academic year, BSU has awarded the “Birincilik” (Excellence) Scholarship, worth 200 manats per month for the duration of the academic year, to the highest-scoring undergraduate entrants who achieved more than 550 points.

State-funded master’s programs have also been updated, and students enrolling in master’s programs from the 2026/2027 academic year will study under the new curricula.

Beginning with the 2026/2027 academic year, BSU has introduced a new undergraduate major, “Regional Studies (Africa).” In addition, 42 new specializations have been introduced at the master’s level.
