BSU Organizes Lecture as Part of WUF13
The Faculty of Law at Baku State University (BSU) organized a lecture titled “Legal Aspects of Urban Development” within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
Delivering the lecture, Dean of the Faculty of Law Zaur Aliyev described the hosting of WUF13 in Azerbaijan following COP29 as an important indicator of the country’s growing international prestige. He noted that the participation of more than 45,000 representatives from 182 countries reflects the high level of international confidence in Azerbaijan.
In his speech, the dean emphasized the special attention paid by National Leader Heydar Aliyev to urban development and architecture, noting that the foundations of state policy on the protection and restoration of architectural heritage were established during his leadership and are being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. He also highlighted the significance of declaring this year the Year of Constitution and Sovereignty, with a strong focus on urban development and architectural heritage.
Zaur Aliyev noted that the urban planning projects implemented in the liberated territories are regarded as successful examples based on modern and innovative approaches. He also spoke about the activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, led by First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, in preserving historical and cultural monuments, as well as the work carried out by the Ministry of Culture in this field.
Deputy Head of the Legal Department of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture and BSU faculty member Sumbul Turabova informed participants about projects implemented by the committee, emphasizing the importance of inclusive urban planning approaches in improving social well-being and ensuring accessible urban environments.
At the end of the event, students and faculty members visited the stands organized within the framework of WUF13.
