Baku State University (BSU) hosted the presentation of books published to mark the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress. The event featured the launch of BSU’s textbook Lessons of the First Turkological Congress, authored by Academician Nizami Jafarov, as well as the International Turkic Academy’s publications The Baku Turkological Congress 100 Years Later and The First Baku Turkological Congress: In the Light of the Documents of 1926.

BSU Rector Elchin Babayev emphasized that the University is one of the leading centers of Turkology and is actively involved in events commemorating the centenary of the Congress. He noted that the new publications will contribute to the study of the scientific and cultural legacy of the First Turkological Congress and serve as valuable educational and research resources.

President of the International Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev highlighted the significance of the Congress’s legacy for the development of Turkology and the strengthening of the national identity of Turkic peoples. The author of the textbook, Academician Nizami Jafarov, stressed that the Congress’s proceedings remain scientifically and socially relevant and deserve further comprehensive study.

The event also featured speeches by Member of the Milli Majlis and Professor of the Department of Turkish Philology at BSU Jala Aliyeva, Vice President of the International Turkic Academy Bülent Bayram, and Academy representative Ainur Maemerova.

At the conclusion of the event, a group of BSU staff members received commemorative badges marking the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress. The awards were presented by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Saadat Yusifova.
