BSU Rector Hosts Meeting with Ambassadors of Egypt, Kuwait, and Qatar
The Rector of Baku State University (BSU), Elchin Babayev, hosted a meeting with the Ambassador of Egypt, Hisham Mohammed Nagi Abdel Hamid, the Ambassador of Kuwait, Mohammed Faisal al-Mutairi, and the Charge d'Affaires of Qatar, Hamad Khalaf al-Hemaidi. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in education, science, and culture between Azerbaijan and the Arab states.
Rector Elchin Babayev emphasized the long-standing friendship and successful collaboration between Azerbaijan and Arab countries, a relationship initially fostered by national leader Heydar Aliyev and continued under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. "Arab nations have always provided moral and political support to Azerbaijan in its pursuit of justice, and this solidarity is deeply appreciated," he said.
Highlighting BSU’s contributions, the rector spoke about the achievements in teaching Arabic at the Faculty of Oriental Studies. He proposed signing memorandums with Arab universities to create dual degree programs and suggested establishing a Center for Arabic Language and Culture at BSU. "Such a center would play a pivotal role in advancing Arabic language education and fostering cultural exchange," he added.
The ambassadors commended BSU for celebrating International Arabic Language Day and acknowledged the university’s efforts in promoting Arabic studies. They expressed their readiness to support BSU's initiatives and collaborate on educational and cultural projects.
The meeting concluded with discussions on mutual interests, including joint research projects, faculty exchange programs, and future academic partnerships.
