BSU Rector Speaks at Global Congress on Sustainable Development
Rector of Baku State University (BSU), Elchin Babayev, participated in a panel discussion in Istanbul during the Global Congress on Sustainable Development. The event was organized by Times Higher Education (THE) in collaboration with the Turkish Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
The panel, titled “Azerbaijan Showcase: How Universities are Shaping Their National Sustainability Legacy,” was moderated by Ulker Sattarova, Director of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education of Azerbaijan.
Alongside Rector Babayev, other panelists included Rufat Azizov, Rector of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University; Metin Sitti, President of Koç University; and Norbert Csizmadia, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at John von Neumann University.
In his remarks, Elchin Babayev highlighted BSU’s initiatives aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including scientific research, educational programs, the integration of sustainability into internal policies, and prospects for international collaboration.
