BSU Represented at EIFL General Assembly
Baku State University (BSU) was represented at the General Assembly of the Electronic Information for Libraries (EIFL), held online.
The General Assembly addressed key issues related to the development of library and information services, access to open scholarly resources, copyright, scholarly publishing, digital identification systems, and the development of repositories.
BSU was represented at the event by Nigar Ismayilova, Director of the Scientific Library, Head of the Azerbaijan Library and Information Consortium (Az.KIK), and EIFL Coordinator for Azerbaijan.
The programme featured presentations on EIFL’s work in the areas of open access and copyright, the role of libraries in the modern scholarly information ecosystem, the use of artificial intelligence in scholarly publishing, and expanding access to knowledge.
EIFL Director Rima Kupryte presented a report on the organisation’s key achievements. Aaron Tay, Head of Data Services at Singapore Management University, delivered a presentation titled “Artificial Intelligence in Scholarly Publishing and Access to Knowledge.”
EIFL Manager Iryna Kuchma spoke about open access journals, the assignment of Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to journal articles, the use of Open Journal Systems (OJS) for editing and publishing scholarly journals, professional communities in open access publishing, the Diamond Open Access model, and new approaches to repository development.
EIFL Manager Teresa Hackett addressed copyright-related activities, reforms to national and European legislation, and issues concerning Public Lending Right (PLR).
Representatives of higher education institutions that are members of Az.KIK also participated in the General Assembly alongside BSU’s Scientific Library.
