Baku State University (BSU) has significantly improved its standing in the 2025 edition of the Round University Ranking (RUR), climbing 137 places to reach 825th position globally. This marks a notable advancement from its 962nd place last year and establishes BSU as the leading higher education institution in Azerbaijan according to the ranking.

The RUR evaluates universities worldwide based on 20 key indicators across four strategic dimensions: teaching (40%), research (40%), international diversity (10%), and financial sustainability (10%).

The data for the RUR is collected via Clarivate Analytics’ Global Institutional Profiles Project and is based on bibliometric indicators from the Web of Science Core Collection. Teaching and research reputation scores are derived from the annual Academic Reputation Survey.

BSU’s progress reflects the impact of broad institutional reforms, enhanced academic capacity, support for scientific research, expanded international cooperation, and improved financial management. This achievement highlights the university’s growing presence on the global academic stage.
