BSU scientist awarded Alisher Navoi Medal

Department head at Baku State University (BSU), Doctor of Philology Ramiz Asker has been awarded the Alisher Navoi Medal for his outstanding contribution to the promotion of Turkic Peoples’ literature and culture abroad.

He received the medal from the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev at an international conference "Constellations of the East" dedicated to the 880th anniversary of the birth of classics of Turkic literature Nizami Ganjavi, 580th anniversary of Alisher Navoi and 700th anniversary of Yunus Emre held in Nur-Sultan.

Ramiz Askerov translated into Azerbaijani the selected works of Abai Kunanbayev and Alisher Navoi, the epic "Kyz Zhibek", two works of Magzhan Zhumabaev.
