07/02/2023

Faculty members of the Department of Bioecology of the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science of Baku State University (BSU) have studied the ecological state of the soil cover, mesofauna, flora and avifauna of the Lokbatan, Binagadi and Kurdakhan lakes of Absheron and adjacent areas.

Studies have found that soil around the Lokbatan lake is subject to significant salinization. The territories adjacent to the lake are polluted by refuse and sanitary waste. This situation worsened the condition of semi-desert phytocenoses.

The territories adjacent to the Binagadi lake are subject to anthropogenic pollution. Studies have shown that the ecological balance of the lake gets disturbed, the surrounding area became unsuitable for flora and fauna.

Kurdakhan lake has not been subjected to anthropogenic pollution, no negative impact of the population on birds has been recorded.
