04/05/2026

A final training session organized by Baku State University (BSU) with the support of Elsevier was held for editors and editorial board members of BSU scientific journals on “Criteria and Processes for Evaluating Scientific Journals for Indexing in the Scopus Database.”

The session provided practical guidance on improving journal quality and international visibility, as well as a detailed overview of the Scopus inclusion process. Participants were informed that journal evaluation is conducted by the Content Selection & Advisory Board, with key emphasis on editorial policy, publication ethics, and completeness of submitted information.

Key Scopus criteria were highlighted, including journal scope and policy, peer-review process, scientific quality of articles, international composition of editorial boards, publication regularity, and online accessibility with English abstracts. It was also noted that indexed journals undergo continuous monitoring and periodic re-evaluation to ensure quality, citation performance, and ethical standards.

The training was interactive, with participants discussing challenges and receiving expert recommendations.
