BSU Students Attend Session on Information and Cybersecurity
An educational session on information security and cybersecurity was held for students of Baku State University (BSU).
In their opening remarks, Sureya Javadova, Director of the Baku Technology Center, Sabina Omarova, Dean of the SABAH Groups at BSU, and Mubariz Khalilov, Head of the Department of Computer Science, emphasized that information security is a key component of national security in every country. They also highlighted the importance of equipping students with knowledge about emerging challenges, professional development pathways, and career opportunities in the field.
The programme featured presentations by cybersecurity professionals. Kamran Karimli, Chief Information Security Officer at Proxima Cyber Security LLC, delivered a presentation titled “AI Governance & Audit,” focusing on the governance and auditing of artificial intelligence systems.
Elman Alizade, Head of the Attack Security Department at Proxima Cyber Security LLC, spoke on “A Career in Cybersecurity: How to Start in Pentesting and Red Teaming.” He provided information on the knowledge and skills required to begin a career in the field, as well as professional development opportunities and potential career paths.
In a presentation titled “You’ve Been Hacked: What Happens in the First 60 Minutes of an Attack?”, Zohrab Seyidli, Head of the Security Operations Center at Proxima Cyber Security LLC, discussed the measures taken during the initial stages of a cyberattack and practical approaches to handling cybersecurity incidents.
The session was held in an interactive format. During the presentations, students discussed real-world scenarios and gained insights from the experts’ professional experience. Particular attention was given to future career opportunities in cybersecurity, labour-market requirements, the competencies needed for employment, areas of specialization, and the development of professional knowledge and skills.
The event concluded with a question-and-answer session, giving students an opportunity to address their questions directly to the experts.
