BSU students joined Plastic-Free July Challenge
The British Embassy organized a campaign “Plastic-Free July” to reduce the use of single use plastic bags together with the IDEA Public Union. The British Embassy in Baku and the IDEA Public Union encourage everyone to give up single use plastic items, including plastic bags, and to use environmentally friendly and sustainable alternatives, for the benefit of present and future generations.
Students of the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science of Baku State University (BSU) also took part in the Challenge. Ayten Rustamova, Chairman of the Eco Club under the Student Youth Organization (SYO), Murad Iskenderzade, Deputy Chair of the Faculty SYO, and an active student of the Faculty Mahir Mammadov, distributed reusable bags to the population and shared Information about the harm of plastic to nature and the environment, simple steps to reduce the use of disposable plastic items and the importance of sorting and recycling waste.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Azerbaijan James Sharp met with BSU volunteers and thanked them for their support for environmental protection.
