BSU Students Promote International Cooperation in Combating Climate Change
Baku State University (BSU) hosted an event titled "International Cooperation of Azerbaijani Youth in Combating Climate Change."
The event was organized in collaboration with the Azerbaijan Youth Rights Protection Center, the Public Council under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and BSU's Student Youth Organization.
Alekhber Hasanov, a specialist from BSU's Department of Humanitarian Affairs and Youth Policy, stated that 2024 has been declared the "Year of Solidarity for a Green World" in Azerbaijan, and the country will host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). This initiative aims to strengthen Azerbaijan's active participation in addressing global environmental issues and fostering international cooperation in combating climate change. One of the key tasks in this regard is to increase youth engagement in climate change issues, support their initiatives, and create opportunities for participation. BSU students are eager to actively contribute to this process.
Chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Amin Mammadov, briefed students on the efforts being made in Azerbaijan in preparation for COP29. He noted that volunteers are working to involve and engage young people in this process, with a platform being created for youth voices to be heard. Mammadov emphasized that the active involvement of youth in addressing climate issues ensures greater transparency in the process.
